Approach

Long-Term Thinking

Decisions extend beyond the moment.

Latitude considers strategic choices in the context of their longer-term implications for businesses, owners and relationships.

Time changes perspective

A decision that appears compelling today may look very different when considered over several years.

Ownership, governance, capital structure, strategic direction and stakeholder relationships can all be shaped by choices made at a particular moment.

We therefore believe time horizon should be considered explicitly when evaluating important decisions.

Beyond immediate outcomes

Short-term objectives matter.

They should not automatically determine the entire course of action.

We consider whether an immediate outcome supports the broader objectives of the business and the people surrounding it.

This may mean weighing flexibility against certainty, speed against durability or immediate value against longer-term strategic position.

Ownership matters

Ownership is more than a financial arrangement.

It can influence strategy, governance, investment horizon, culture and the way a business develops over time.

Changes in ownership therefore deserve to be considered in the context of what they may enable, constrain or fundamentally alter.

Preserving optionality

Not every decision should remove future choices.

Where appropriate, we consider how a transaction or strategic decision may affect the flexibility available to a business or its owners later.

Optionality can be valuable when future circumstances are uncertain or when strategic priorities may evolve.

Relationships endure

The consequences of a decision are often carried by relationships.

Shareholders, management teams, advisers, counterparties and other stakeholders may continue working together long after a transaction has completed.

We therefore consider alignment, expectations and future interaction as part of the wider decision-making context.

Durability over immediacy

We do not believe every situation requires the fastest or most elaborate solution.

Where possible, we favour outcomes capable of remaining coherent as circumstances change.

The objective is not simply to complete a decision.

It is to make one that continues to make sense.
